African Union!

I have been reading media reports from the African Union's (AU) just ended 14th Assembly in Addis Ababa where my president (Bingu wa Mutharika) has been elected as "chairman" of the organisation after seeing off Libya's Colonel Gaddafi's attempt to hold on to the position. I wish Mutharika all the best.

I hope Mutharika succedes. However, the reports suggest that history wil be repeating itself for the organisation that's very good at making bold statements but very bad at following them with any useful action.

In the 47th year of its establishment, under the discarded the name Organisation of African Unity (OAU), AU has nothing to show for its existence but ideas.
